Our artworks deal with journeys, distance and translation of space. At the root of our artistic practice is a cartographic process constructed through walking, exploring and composing an understanding of our physical and psychological topography by foot. This blog acts as a growing archive of our process and also a site for discussion and participation.

Hi both,
it's starting to look nuts! I'd be really interested to see your screen print and paper making exploits. Some of the photographs and the note books particularly lend themselves very nicely to screen printed maps. It would be great to see how they would be applied to 2 dimensions. Plus screen prints always feel really nice.
Love the photo's, the tree looks like it's swallowed a bee hive or something. Looks great over there and my thoughts are with you all the time.
Lots of love

October
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees,one far away,
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
From October by Robert Frost.

Just been catching up on the blog - fascinating but wierd - I'm sorry I haven't added a comment before - didn't realise you didn't know that people were reading it - stupid really - that's what comes of working with computers. Hope it's still enjoyable

hi glyn
thank you for the poem, full of very apt imagary, the falling leaves had a big impact on the changing landscpe of the marsh, even though most of the trees around it are ever green, they are interspersed with what i think are Aspen trees, which have very white green bark and atthis time of year the leaves have turned yellow. over the last few walks there were patches of the muddy trail which looked like they had been decorated with yellow polka dots.
also on one of my first walks i had a lovely encounter with two yellow birds which were jumping around a yellow bush, they were a really vivid coulour but completey invisible in the bush, by the next walk all the leaves and these yellow birds were gone. it changed the space loads.
i am a little worried too because tomorrow we are leading groups for a performance walk and laura has to follow my directions some of which rely on leaves still bing on the trees!!! just hope its not been too windy or they may well get lost.
we have managed to do some oft he printing we planned, we have made silk screen prints of the text directions for these walks which each of the participants will receive. it was a trick print as we decided to make them double sided so had to get each print perfect twice !!! aaaggghh we did ok, we got 30 good prints of each.
we will tart the prints from our marsh loop drawings on monday. we have all the colours and screens ready to go we just need to cut the paper, all very exciting.
lots of love
sorrel
